Indian Coast Guard rescues 16 distressed persons safely.
New Delhi 13 July (UH).Indian Coas Guard team in a challenging situation rescued 16 distressed persons stranded along the bank of Ambika, near Balsad in Gujrat.
According to a press release the Coast Guard Air Station at Daman received a request from the office of the District Collector- Valsad for assistance towards rescuing some distressed people along the banks of river Ambika near Valsad, Gujarat stranded there due to incessant rains causing flash floods. Coast Guard swung into action and amidst heavy showers, the Coast Guard helicopter took off from Daman and rushed towards Valsad to rescue 16Marooned people stranded on the banks of the said river.
As the flood water rose, people were seen rushing to the terrace of their houses for safety. Some took refuge along the river banks at a height. The helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station flew amidst marginal visibility in strong winds and heavy rain and reached the datum. The helicopter crew quickly assimilated the situation and upon positive identification of the safe location for disembarkation, airlifted the 16 stranded persons to safety ashore.
