Indian Coast Guards save 6 Shrilanakn migrants on a Island

The Indian Coast Guard hovercraft while on patrol found 06 Sri Lankan nationals stranded near the fourth Island in the early morning hours of 22 Mar 2022. In response to input received by the Intelligence agencies about illegal immigration, H-181 was launched for area sanitization. At about, 1030 hrs the Hovercraft team located 06 personnel on the Fourth Island of Rameshwaram.
On investigation, it was ascertained that this group comprises 01 Male, 02 Females and 03 Children resident of Jaffna & Kokupadaiyan had left from Peshalai in a fishing boat in the night of 21 Mar 2022. They had plans to migrate to India illegally due to the excessive rise in prices of essential commodities in their country.
All starving six foreign nationals were fed and ferried to Mandapam Hoverport station, Rameshwaram for a joint interrogation. Later, they were handed over to CSG, Mandapam for instituting legal actions.
