377 GENTLEMAN CADETS TOOK PART IN DY. COMMANDANT PARADE : POP O 11th.

Dehradun, 7 Jue.  The Passing Out Parade symbolizes the culmination of rigorous training and transformation of a Gentleman cadet into a young Officer. Amidst the challenges posed by COVID, the Deputy Commandant & Chief Instructor’s (DC&CI) parade was conducted on     07 Jun 2022 at the historic Chetwode drill square, wherein 288 Indian and 89 Foreign Gentleman Cadets displayed their immaculate turnout and precision marching. This marks the preparation for the grand finale on 11 Jun 22.

The Parade was reviewed by Maj Gen Alok Joshi, Sena Medal, Deputy Commandant & Chief Instructor of the Indian Military Academy. He complimented the Gentleman cadets and encouraged them to be the finest officers of Indian Army. He also emphasized the importance of valour, honour, ethos and fine traditions of Indian Army. He mentioned that the efforts of the faculty and the hard work of the Gentleman Cadets was evident from the crisp and coordinated movements on the Drill Square.

During the address to the passing out course Maj Gen Alok Joshi, said that “We have trained you hard here, it was meant to be that way, so that no obstacle will be a challenge and any enemy who dares to cross your path will be assured of his decimation.

Crossing the ‘Antim Pag’ your training does not end, it only commences. The time has come to put it to pratice and execute your duties as you don the mantle of young leaders in few days from now. Keep your nerves and have confidence in yourself and your training. Never stop believing – You have What it Takes to Win!

He also said “Whenever situation demands you to choose between military ideals taught in the academy and actual ground realities, in such times, you must recall the ‘Chetwode Credo’ and the ‘Honour Code’. The choice will always be between the harder right and an easier wrong and I presume we all know the right course. In that way, you will be able to always look your men, colleagues, and superiors squarely in the eyes, self-assured and confident with an aura of a true leader. The real test is not when your men follow you in success when everything is going on well. It is when they follow you in reverses and defeat when the chips are down.

“Keep strong if possible. In any case, keep cool. Have unlimited patience. Never corner an opponent, and always assist him to save his face. Put yourself in his shoes so as to see things through his eyes. Avoid self-righteousness like the devil – nothing is so self-blinding.

The Deputy Commandant & Chief Instructor, IMA complimented Gentleman Cadets from eight friendly foreign countries on successful completion of the training and wished them all the success ahead as they carry the cherished memories of their time at IMA.

The Parade was reflective of the excellence that the Academy has always stood for and set the stage for the stellar conduct of the main events scheduled for 10th and 11th Jun 2022, which shall be telecast live on various channels and the social media.
