सीमान्त जिला चमोली में भाजपा को लगा जोर का झटका, अध्यक्ष पद पर 10 में से दो पर जीते 8 हारे
In the local body elections, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) achieved a significant victory in the municipal corporations of the state, asserting its dominance. However, the party received a strong setback in its state president’s home district, Chamoli. The BJP lost the Pokhari Nagar Panchayat, located in the hometown of its state president, Mahendra Bhatt. In this border district, where the BJP had once held considerable influence, it secured only two chairmanships out of the 10 local bodies. After the Badri Nath by-election, this is considered the second blow to the BJP in Chamoli. According to the results of the local body elections received late in the evening, the BJP won the chairmanships of Gopeshwar and Karnaprayag municipal councils out of the 10 local bodies in Chamoli district. In Karnaprayag, the BJP candidate won the chairmanship in a tight contest. On Saturday, the results of the elections for four municipal councils and six Nagar Panchayats in Chamoli district were declared. In Gopeshwar Municipal Council, BJP candidate Sandeep Rawat, and in Karnaprayag, BJP candidate Ganesh Shah won the chairmanships. Meanwhile, in Gauchar, Congress candidate Sandeep Singh and in Jyotirmath, Congress candidate Devshwari Shah won the chairmanships. In the Nagar Panchayats, independent candidate Aarti Navani won the chairmanship in Pipalkoti, while Congress candidates Bina Devi in Nandnagar, Prithvi Singh Rautela in Nandprayag, Mohan Bhandari in Gairsain, Sunita Rawat in Tharali, and independent candidate Sohan Lal in Pokhari were elected as chairpersons.
